The aim of the foundation according to the articles of association is to save St. Mary\u2019s Church of P\u00f6ide &#8211; a unique architectural and historical monument from destruction, to carry out restoration for preserving the clerical functions and promote the church as a unique and peculiar concert hall and as an attraction to all tourist in Saaremaa.<\/p><p>The first 8-member council of the foundation included on behalf of the congregation as follows: Veiko Vihur \u2013 rural dean of islands, and members: art historian Anne Untera, Heidi Madisson and Meelis P\u00e4rn; and on behalf of P\u00f6ide Rural Municipality: Angela Nairis -the member of the management of the Foundation Saaremaa Tourism, the chairman of the Estonian Heritage Conservation Union &#8211; Jaan Tamm, P\u00f6ide municipality secretary Maire K\u00e4\u00e4rid and Vilmar Laak &#8211; the road engineer of AS Eesti Teed.
